Crystal Ball checks covered
SITE_DUPLICATE_TITLE, duplicate titles, repeated title tags
What the flag means
Crystal Ball flags duplicate titles when multiple pages use the same or nearly identical title tag. One duplicate is not always a disaster, but many duplicates make pages look interchangeable.
This is a problem because title tags help search engines and people understand what each page is about. If the “About,†“Services,†and “Contact†pages all say the same thing, the site is whispering instead of labeling its doors.
Common causes
Common causes include default CMS titles, copied pages, service-area pages with the same pattern, product variants, blog archives, blank SEO fields, and title templates that only use the business name.
How to fix it
- Custom HTML/static: Edit each page’s
<title>so it describes that exact page. If titles come from a shared include, add a per-page variable or hand-set the title. - WordPress: Check the page SEO title field and SEO plugin templates. For archives, products, or custom post types, update the title pattern rather than each page one by one.
- Shopify: Edit search engine listing titles for important products, collections, pages, and blogs. If duplicates come from theme or bulk-created products, update the naming pattern.
- Wix: Use each page’s SEO Basics panel and default SEO pattern settings. Give important service and location pages page-specific titles.
- Webflow: Update page SEO settings or CMS Collection template title fields. Use collection variables carefully so each item produces a unique title.
