Let’s focus on shiny shoes. Your shoes tell a lot about you, where you’ve been and where you’re going. They show if you care enough to keep them shiny, or just view them as a utility. Shiny shoes show you go out of the way to make a good first impression. You will go out of your way to help the client look good.
Polishing shoes is a low-cost event. I use shoe polish I purchased a few years ago for a few dollars. Even if you pay someone to shine your shoes, you’re looking at a $5 transaction in most places I’ve seen. Would you spend $5 to close a deal?
