Website pro says you should proofread your work
Am I the only guy out there who proofreads his work?
While reviewing an article on websites, I stumbled on a sentence that began with “Initially, search engine optimization initial turned out to be a extremely maneuverable company exactly where webmasters...” I could not read beyond that because…I lost faith in the author. When you hire a website guy, you’re hiring a writer who is representing you, your brand and your company. He has to generate good, clear, professional work. His website and marketing materials have to look good before he can expect someone to hire him for his writing skills. Sorry for being negative here, but you need to make sure your website guy promotes his company well before you pay him to promote yours.
My second book, Escape the Cubicle, has more than 42,000 words. I spent more time and energy proofreading it than I did writing the first draft. That’s how it goes when you write. Proofreading shows that you give a damn. You sincerely want the reader to understand.
The author who wrote that quote is too sloppy for this profession. He promoted his business with slop. If he does this type of work for clients, he will create a blemish on our profession. People will think website guys do sloppy work. That is not the case my friend. Just make sure the website guy you hire promotes his company well before you hire him to promote yours.
