He needs SEO work
Someone who attended one of my speeches three years ago recently called and asked me to do their SEO and social media. I collected his business card, among others, after the speech and connected with him via my newsletters, Facebook and LinkedIn. This brings me to today’s topic: your marketing efforts are cumulative. The success I enjoyed is success you should expect too.
What enticed him to finally call? Perhaps it was my newsletters? My newsletters go out every Tuesday. The formatting looks good. The picture is decent. The grammar and spelling are correct. I know I know, I know…big deal on the grammar and spelling. I’ve seen some Sacramento SEO folks publish press releases say they are great at writing content. But sometimes their writing is awful. Some sentences simply do not make sense. Correct grammar, spelling and proofreading cannot be taken for granted when checking out SEO Pros these days.
Perhaps it was my newsletter articles. They have a short blurb and then a link to my blog at http://yourseowizard.com/. He cannot read an entire article in the newsletter because I usually crop them and conclude with a Read on… link, which links to a blog entry.
Perhaps it was the Facebook connection. Most of my professional posts at http://facebook.com/markanthonygermanos help position me as a Sacramento SEO Pro. My scheduled posts actually point back to my blog.
Perhaps it was the LinkedIn connection. Most of my professional posts at http://www.linkedin.com/in/markgermanos help position me as a Sacramento SEO Pro. My scheduled posts actually point back to my blog.
Perhaps it was the blog at http://yourseowizard.com/. Entries I have posted here appear on page one of Google searches for my targeted key phrases. I am sure he has searched for my targeted key phrases over the past few weeks and determined 1) I am still in business, and 2) my ideas work. Entries not only appear prominently in Google searches but also relay some of my tips to get you on page one.
Finally, perhaps it was the expert status I gained while presenting the speech. It is common knowledge that public speaking gives you expert status on whatever you are discussing. How many people do you view as experts in their field after you saw them on a stage presenting their topic?
No one factor is responsible. Rather, all factors are responsible. Your marketing efforts have a cumulative effect. People need to see a message more than 11 times before it finally sinks in and elicits a response. Let me ask you…how many marketing avenues are you using and are they working?
