My Sacramento SEO Pro Gold package calls for 6,000 words. I use that content when launching SEO campaigns for your business. I use it in your web site, blog, articles, press releases and YouTube videos. Sometimes people ask why I want 6,000 words. Isn’t that too much? On the contrary…6,000 words for your SEO campaign is just a start.

For your web site and blog, 6,000 words is a good start. I call this your manifesto. Mine is appropriately called “Mark’s Manifesto.” I have been pulling content from this and putting it in my blog for over a year. That has not stopped me from writing more content. That has not stopped me from looking at new events and commenting on them. When General Motors sent a press release saying they were stopping their Facebook advertising, I wrote a blog on that topic.

A good blog entry has at least 300 words. Mine are usually at least 400 words. One of my SEO filters actually counts the words. It awards the word count category a green light if the entry has more than 300 words. If it is less than 300 words, it will present a red, amber or yellow light.

If your manifesto has 6,000 words, you will have sufficient content for 20 blog entries. That may get you through a month. This assumes that all the verbiage in your manifesto is usable. 6,000 words may seem like a lot, but it can be used up quickly. Take it from a guy who wrote a 42,000 word book last year…6,000 words is not a lot.

Maybe you’re not a writer

I can surely respect that. If that is the case, you can talk about your business. I tell new clients that I will sit down with them and interview them about their business. I will:

  1. Record the interview.
  2. Send it out for transcription.
  3. Get an MS Word document back.

From there, I edit the document. I break it into bite-sized pieces at least 300 words and publish them as blog entries. I make sure the primary key phrase is obvious.

You need content. My SEO friends say: “Content is King.” You can sit down and write sufficient content for your web site and blog. I feel 6,000 words is the minimum you should have before launching an SEO campaign. You can also record yourself talking about your business, send out the recording for transcription and get back an MS Word document. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you have sufficient content. Good SEO campaigns take time and content.
